What Pet Urns should be used to keep ashes for pets?

For many families, a pet is more than just a pet. They spend years with us, comfort us in times of sadness and share in blind excitement when we are happy. They grow with us, learn with us, and live with us. Many consider them to be just as much a part of a family as anyone else. Often, we find ourselves shocked at just how much pain is caused by the death of a pet.

This is just why it can be stunningly difficult to deal with the loss of a beloved family pet. Having a pet cremated is quickly becoming more and more common for families experiencing loss. Burials can be a challenge, while cremation allows for the beloved animals ashes to remain close to home and close at heart.

As we shift our mindset and view towards our pets and animals, families are thinking more and more about how they want to keep the memory alive and celebrate the life of the pet who brought them unconditional love and joy into their home.

Because of the growing desire for families to choose cremation as an option, many companies and facilities have emerged to ease the process and provide a greater sense of comfort and peace.

Often, when a pet passes, your veterinarian can recommend a specific company through which you can receive the cremated remains. This is generally done through the typical cremation method, or the aqua cremation method. Both approaches leave the family with the ashes of their pet, and the ashes typically look, feel, and smell (odorless) the same.

The process typically doesn’t take more than a few hours, but families can generally expect to receive ashes back after one to two weeks. Pet cremation urns house the ashes, and if one has not yet been selected by the family, the cremation facility will return them to you in a bag within a box.

The amount of ashes depends upon the size of the animal, so cat urns for ashes might be smaller than those of the dog cremation urns. The urns specifically for pets also come in a variety of options to suit sizes, personal styles, desired looks, and memorial styles.

Dog cremation urns can be just as easily used for cats, and vice versa. Simple urns with engravings of paw prints and names can remind a family of the love and wonderful times spent with their pet. Rainbow bridge urns might help to remind one of how much their beloved dog or cat brightened up their day. Heart shaped urn reflect the immense love one had, while a love drop urn might sit elegantly but subtly on a shelf in one’s home.

Other than traditional urns, some owners might prefer to keep some of the ashes of their pet inside a pendant or piece of pet cremation jewelry, something elegant or simple that can be work daily, or something cute and quirky that can be worn on a more difficult day.

It’s no surprise that while our pets bring us immense joy on a daily basis, their loss can bring us immense sadness, as well. But, honoring their life, keeping them close, and remembering them fondly with a cat urn or dog cremation pendant can help ease the burden of those memories.
